Layla is a yellow English Lab who came into our family as a pup in 2012. After completing "puppy school" she began training for seizure response to assist and help get me back on my feet after being diagnosed with epilepsy. The seizures were under control, but Layla loved learning and training as much as I enjoyed the quality time with her. She spent a lot of her days on trails, camping, swimming, and joining me everywhere I went. Her desire to learn new things was my motivation to get back to a normal life. We were introduced to a book by Richard A. Wolters called Game Dog that has a wealth of information and great games to play and train with your pup. Layla's instincts and training really shined when she learned to hunt.
Layla was later diagnosed Addison's disease. This disease can lead to crisis very quickly, we are blessed that the clinic was able to provide a diagnosis. Our lives seem to have gone full circle, 2 old dogs on lifelong medications looking out for each other. Layla was still able to be active after the diagnosis, but not nearly like her younger days. Layla will be 12 years old on August 12, 2024. I thank her everyday for everything she has done for me and this journey would not have been the same without her. She is the motivation and positivity that is Layla Bay. Thank you, and welcome to the family!
